About me, my professional life and my Mhackintosh…

I am an international developper, actually hired as CTO of a web startup in Montreal. The technologies I professionnally use are Macs (naturally), Mac OS X, Linux, Apache, PHP5 & MySQL, Ajax (Javascript, JSon, prototype, jQuery, …). I am looking forward to learn Ruby on Rails.

I am also a photographer, something that gives balance between my technical work and the artist that is in each and everyone. I do portrait, street photography, fashion, … (iAPX Photos)

I wanted an Apple II when I was a teen, have the chance to work with the first original Macintosh, do my career on DOS, Windows & Linux, to finally switch on the Mac OS X platform buying the original Mac Mini (1.25Ghz PowerPC / 256MB / 40GB) four years ago.

Since this time, I threw away any of my Windows computers, to mainly use Mac OS X on Mac, but as my budget couldn’t afford a Mac Pro, I decided to jump on the Mhackintosh bandwagon and bought an used ACER M5620 (4×2.4Ghz / 3GB / 500GB), install a Hackintosh distribution on it (with some help!), and upgrade it to match my needs : 4×3.0Ghz / 8GB / 2×1TB 7200rpm / GeForce 8800. For less than $1000!

That’s the point with Mac and Mhackintosh : Mac OS X is wonderful and exciting, Mac hardware are superb and the best computers I ever had, but the price tag is really too high and options are limited (no extensible desktop system at a $1500 tag for example, no netbook, …).
